I do not support the continuing resolution to extend government funding for 30 days. The United States Constitution grants Congress the power and responsibility of the purse, giving elected representatives the authority to establish government spending priorities. This core legislative duty must not be abdicated to the executive branch through stopgap funding measures. Congress should fulfill its constitutional obligation by passing comprehensive appropriations bills that reflect the nation's needs and values as determined by the people's elected representatives.
