The United States was founded on the principles of freedom of speech and expression. Deporting students and academics who voice pro-Palestinian views violates these core constitutional rights and deprives them of due process protections. This heavy-handed crackdown by the administration is a direct attack on civil liberties and the open exchange of ideas that should be cherished on college campuses. We must uphold the fundamental right to peacefully protest and express political beliefs without facing retaliation or deportation. Targeting individuals based solely on their speech and activism related to the Palestinian cause is unacceptable in a free society. I urge you to condemn these deportations, uphold constitutional protections for all people legally residing in the United States, and ensure that due process rights are robustly defended. Free speech is not something to be curtailed but celebrated as a hallmark of American democracy.
