I'm writing as a constituent to ask for your support for HB 533, HR 128, and HR 129. The first is the Wrongful Conviction Compensation Act and the others are private bills aimed at compensating two wrongfully convicted (and now exonerated) individuals -- Lee Clark and Joey Watkins. Nobody should have to go through what these individuals did, each spending decades in prison for crimes they didn't commit. The least we can do is provide them some monetary compensation to try to swing the balance every so slightly toward justice. The WCCA would set up a fair and consistent way of doing so in the future. Thank you for your consideration.
