Ensuring robust access to early voting is vital for preserving the integrity of our elections and protecting the fundamental right of all citizens to participate. The proposed legislation to restrict early voting locations to just one site per county would severely limit opportunities for Georgians to cast their ballots conveniently. Given the high demand for early voting options, with 71% of voters utilizing this method in the last election, centralizing it to single locations risks creating unacceptably long lines, overcrowding, and disenfranchisement. Such constraints on early voting access disproportionately impact communities that already face barriers to voting, including low-income voters, elderly individuals, and those with disabilities or transportation challenges. We should be expanding voting access, not erecting new obstacles that make it harder for people to exercise their civic duty. Voters rely on the flexibility and convenience that multiple early voting sites provide to accommodate work schedules and other responsibilities. I urge you to reject any measures that would limit early voting locations and instead focus efforts on ensuring our elections remain secure, accessible, and reflective of the will of all Georgians. Upholding our democracy requires safeguarding every eligible citizen's ability to vote without undue burdens. Preserving robust early voting opportunities is crucial to achieving that aim.
