Restore and protect grants and program funding

To: Sen. Johnson, Sen. Baldwin, Rep. Fitzgerald

From: A constituent in Waukesha, WI

March 26

I am a mother of two school-age children, a teacher, and a proud member of my community in Waukesha, Wisconsin. I am concerned about the massive number of grants and other funding that has been cut without thought of who is losing. In the name of "efficiency" we are losing programs that will cost millions in both money and damaged lives. Some of these are medical research programs into areas like Alzheimer's, which has impacted my own family and many of my friends. Another recent cut was to a UW-Madison teacher residency program, which used minimal funds to get people on track to be special education teachers in Milwaukee's most vulnerable schools. There is already a huge shortage of special education teachers in our state, and this program would have made significant impact in the lives of people in Wisconsin over the next few years. I want my tax money to support programs like these. I want our federal government to continue to fund things that help everyday American people and look to seek solutions for our futures. Speak up against massive, mindless cuts that have no basis in helping the people of Wisconsin. Most of these programs use relatively little money to do disproportionate good. Speak up so that good can continue to help all of us build stronger, healthier communities all through Wisconsin.
