This legislation aims to implement an unreasonable work requirement for able-bodied adults enrolled in state Medicaid programs. Forcing individuals to work or volunteer 20 hours per week solely to receive essential medical care is an unacceptable condition that diminishes human dignity and threatens the well-being of vulnerable populations. The broad definition of "able-bodied" fails to account for numerous physical, mental, and situational factors that can impair one's capacity for employment without being overtly apparent. Furthermore, mandating unpaid labor to access healthcare is exploitative and tantamount to modern indentured servitude. I urge you to reject this draconian measure that would deprive countless Americans of their fundamental right to medical treatment based on an arbitrary work quota. Healthcare must be available to all residents irrespective of employment status.
