I'm writing today because I am concerned about the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil from Columbia University. While I do not agree with Mr. Khalil's views on the Israel Palestinian conflict, his arrest is extremely concerning and a threat to free speech everywhere. The White House should not be involved in arrests, especially those of legal residents who have the right to free speech. I am asking you and congress to stand up for free speech and advocate for due process. Even if we disagree with someone else's speech, they should still not be arrested at the direction of the president.
