Our national forests are vital resources that support biodiversity, combat climate change, and offer recreational opportunities. However, the executive order to expand logging across 280 million acres threatens these ecosystems. Cutting down forests, especially old-growth trees, will accelerate habitat loss and increase wildfire risks, as studies show aggressive logging creates hotter, drier conditions. Bypassing the Endangered Species Act to fast-track logging is a serious violation of the law and jeopardizes vulnerable species. We must act now—before these precious landscapes are irreparably damaged. I urge you to take immediate and decisive action to protect our national forests by reinstating protections for old-growth trees, enforcing environmental regulations, and promoting sustainable forest management. Our survival depends on the health of these ecosystems; we cannot afford to wait.
