Demand for the Immediate Release of Mahmoud Khalil – A Violation of Free Speech

To: Rep. McClain, Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Independence, MI

March 12

I am writing to you as a concerned constituent to urge you to take immediate action in demanding the release of Mahmoud Khalil. His detention is a blatant violation of the First Amendment’s protection of free speech, and it sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the fundamental freedoms upon which our country was built. The right to express one’s views without fear of government retaliation is a cornerstone of American democracy. Silencing voices through unlawful detention is not only unconstitutional but also deeply un-American. We cannot allow such an egregious violation of our constitutional rights to stand. As my elected representative, I call on you to publicly denounce this injustice and take all necessary steps to secure Mahmoud Khalil’s release. I urge you to demand accountability from the authorities responsible and to work toward ensuring that no American is ever subjected to such an abuse of power. I appreciate your attention to this urgent matter and look forward to your prompt response regarding the actions you will take. Please stand up for our Constitution and the rights of all Americans.
