Halt policies driving away top US scientists and researchers

To: Sen. Hoeven, Rep. Stemen, Sen. Cramer, Sen. Roers, Gov. Armstrong, Pres. Trump, Rep. Fedorchak

From: A constituent in Horace, ND

March 20

It is deeply concerning that the current administration's actions are driving top researchers and scientists away from the United States. The reported plan by European countries to actively recruit talent leaving due to "brutal funding cuts" and interference with scientific freedom should serve as a wake-up call. We cannot afford to lose our premier minds and experts in fields vital to our national interests like health, technology, and environmental research. This brain drain will have long-lasting negative impacts on American innovation, competitiveness, and security. We must push back against policies that undermine scientific integrity and chase away the very people whose work strengthens our nation. Safeguarding academic freedom, robust funding for research, and an environment where science is respected - not politicized - should be priorities. Failure to do so cedes our global leadership in cutting-edge fields to other countries. I urge you to take a stand against this anti-science agenda that is actively harming American interests. Speak out against funding cuts, removal of vital data and information, and the marginalization of expert voices. Demand policies that protect our research enterprise and the invaluable work of American scientists and scholars. The long-term costs of inaction are far too high. We cannot let this brain drain continue unchecked.
