Demand due process and free speech for lawful residents

To: Sen. Paul, Rep. McGarvey, Sen. McConnell

From: A verified voter in Louisville, KY

March 11

Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist and green card holder, was recently arrested by U.S. authorities. This arrest marks an escalation in the Trump administration's efforts to deport those it views as antisemitic and a crackdown on political dissent, even lawful permanent residents. As a green card holder, Khalil is entitled to due process protections. His arrest and potential deportation raise serious concerns about free speech rights and the criminalization of political activism. We must ensure that lawful residents are not targeted and deported simply for expressing dissenting views. Khalil's continued detention and possible removal would set a disturbing precedent for cracking down on protected speech. I urge you to speak out against this unjust treatment of a legal resident and demand Mahmoud Khalil's release.
