I am extremely alarmed by the regime’s attempt to eliminate information silos, which protect all manner of vital personal information. The motives of the autocrats are clear: collect Americans’ private data in order to identify and then persecute members of the opposition. I know you are already doing a lot. I’m writing to ask you, and all your colleagues, to do this as well: pivot from the role of an opposition party in a functioning democracy to that of an opposition party in an autocracy, because that is where we are now.
