I am outraged by President Trump’s reckless decision to impose sweeping tariffs—10% on all foreign goods, 34% on Chinese imports, 20% on the EU, 24% on Japan, and 25% on foreign cars. (wsj.com) This move is nothing short of economic sabotage.
At the start of 2025, the U.S. economy was thriving. Inflation was stabilizing, wages were growing, and consumer confidence was high. Now, these tariffs will send prices skyrocketing, with economists predicting a 1% inflation spike—directly gutting the wallets of hardworking Americans. (cnn.com) The OECD has warned that this disastrous policy will slow global economic growth, and for what? A shortsighted trade war that will leave American businesses and workers crippled. Not to mention the mass illegal firings occurring across federal agencies.
Industries relying on imports—automotive, tech, pharmaceuticals—are already panicking. The Semiconductor Industry Association fears massive production delays. (cnn.com) Meanwhile, the stock market is plummeting, with S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures tanking. (reuters.com) Retaliatory tariffs from the EU and China are coming, which will devastate American farmers and manufacturers. Consumer confidence has already taken a nosedive—University of Michigan’s index plunged 10.5% in March. (latimes.com)
This is economic suicide. These tariffs don’t “put America first”—they put American families, businesses, and workers last. We cannot afford to let this reckless policy destroy the progress we’ve made. Action must be taken before we’re plunged into a crisis we won’t easily recover from.
Trump is isolating us from the world and destroying the US economically. And for what?!
