Release activist Alfredo Juarez, fight injustice against civil liberties

To: Rep. Burnett, Sen. Goehner, Gov. Ferguson, Rep. Steele

From: A verified voter in North Bend, WA

March 26

It is outrageous that Alfredo "Lelo" Juarez, a young activist working to fight for the rights of farmworkers in Washington, has been detained by ICE. Juarez has been an organizer for immigrant and labor rights since he was just 14 years old, bravely advocating for his community despite the risks. His unjust arrest appears to be a clear attempt to intimidate those exercising their constitutional rights and speaking out against injustice. Juarez's activism poses no threat - he has simply been using his voice to advocate for the fair treatment of vulnerable workers. Detaining him diverts resources away from legitimate priorities and violates the principles of free speech that are fundamental to our democracy. I demand that you take immediate action to secure Juarez's release from ICE custody and allow him to return home to his family and community where he can continue his important work without fear of retaliation. His continued detention is an unacceptable attack on civil liberties that cannot be tolerated.
