Our democracy is in crisis. At a time when corporate interests, voter suppression, and attacks on the free press threaten the foundation of our republic, we urge you to act with courage and urgency. 1. Pass the Protecting Our Democracy Act – We must ensure no president, regardless of party, can abuse their office or operate above the law. This act restores vital checks and balances and reinforces the principle that democracy belongs to the people. 2. Enact the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act – The right to vote is sacred. Congress must protect it from state-level attacks that disproportionately target young people, people of color, the elderly, and working-class communities. 3. Support the PRESS Act – A free press is essential to a functioning democracy. Journalists must be able to report the truth without fear of government retaliation or surveillance. 4. Implement stronger ethics and accountability standards – Corruption and corporate influence have no place in our government. We need robust transparency laws and enforcement to ensure elected officials serve the public—not billionaires or special interests. The American people are demanding bold action. Stand on the side of democracy, not authoritarianism. Protect the rights of the people, not the power of the privileged.
