The proposed requirements for AHCCCS eligibility, including work mandates for able-bodied adults, should be rejected. Work requirements create unnecessary barriers to healthcare access and have been shown to increase administrative costs without promoting employment. Instead of imposing burdensome requirements, AHCCCS should focus on streamlining enrollment and providing comprehensive coverage to low-income Arizonans. Healthcare is a human right, and conditioning Medicaid eligibility on work status undermines this principle while disproportionately harming vulnerable populations. I urge you to oppose any legislation that would restrict access to this vital program through punitive work requirements. Let's invest in policies that strengthen AHCCCS and improve health outcomes for all Arizonans.
