It is beyond belief that Senate Democrats would vote to hand our remaining leverage away for free as constituents are begging their officials to protect critical entitlement programs and uphold the rule of law at a time when the White House is led by an illiberal, corrupt administration. Leader Schumer led this betrayal by voting YES on the GOP Funding Bill and for Cloture. His hubris has led to an ultimate failure as Leader. Thus I join the many voices this week demanding Leader Schumer be removed as Senate Minority Leader and from Party Leadership. Just 10 members can call a meeting to vote to replace Schumer as Conference Chair and Democratic Leader. As my elected representative, I ask with urgency that you call this meeting and vote to replace Leader Schumer. Moreover, the events of this week following Leader Schumer’s disastrous media appearances have clarified the dire situation we are in as an American democracy. Legal residents are being disappeared to overseas labor camps with no due process or judicial oversight. The President and his cabinet are openly defying federal court orders, and boastfully. The economy is showing signs of imminent free fall as the President and his unelected thugs dismantle the apparatus of the federal government. It is with these worries in mind that I urgently request members of congress begin the process of filing articles of impeachment against the President. Please use whatever tools are available to remove, or at minimum obstruct the dangerous members of this cabinet and administration before it’s too late. I implore you: stop treating this moment as a normal run-up to a midterm election. Stop taking your cues from DNC consultants, polls, and donors. We are moving past normal discussions of spending and entitlements at great speed into frightening, uncharted territory. Thank you for all you’ve been doing already, truly. Your hard work thus far has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. But it is not enough. If you are unwilling to take a more substantial stand to protect our democracy, please have the courage now to mobilize the people of Oregon to take to the streets in protest. Use the power and tools at your disposal to help Oregonians organize a longstanding general strike. We are in a constitutional crisis. I want to hear you say it loudly and often. Help people understand the gravity of this moment. Don’t be a Chuck Schumer in a moment that requires the meddle and tenacity and bravery of leaders who had names like Churchill, and Roosevelt, and de Gaul, and Eisenhower, and Lincoln. Oregon needs you to fight! We need you to call us to action! We need to see you be loud and angry in sessions of congress! If you’re up to it, be removed from the chamber for being loud and rowdy! Get arrested for standing up for the people! We will fight WITH YOU, but YOU must LEAD US. Thank you and Godspeed.
