I am writing to remind you of a fundamental principle enshrined in the U.S. Constitution: every person, regardless of their immigration status, is entitled to due process of law. This right is guaranteed by the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, which ensure that no one is deprived of life, liberty, or property without fair legal procedures.
The right to due process is not contingent on citizenship but on personhood. Upholding this principle ensures that the United States remains a nation committed to justice and equality under the law.
I implore you to stop sending people to El Salvador without giving them their right to due process. Stop throwing people in Ice detention facilities without due process. Stop detaining travelers at the border without giving them due process. This is illegal, unconstitutional, and unAmerican. If someone has committed a crime then charge them and let them have their day in court.
From,
