You Reaction on the Leaked War Plans Is a Betrayal of Your Oath

As a constituent and a fellow Alaskan, I am writing to express my profound disappointment in your recent comments regarding the leaked classified U.S. military plans and your unwavering support for the individuals involved.
You are a Marine. You understand the seriousness of protecting classified information and the sacred responsibility that comes with military service and national security leadership. That’s what makes your response not only baffling, but shameful.
Rather than denouncing the leak—an egregious security breach by any measure—you praised the “actual content” of the conversation, asking Alaskans to have confidence in Team Trump. A group that, by your own admission, leaked sensitive details to a journalist and then lied about it. How can you, with a straight face, suggest this kind of recklessness instills confidence?
You’ve said we need to “focus on the warrior culture, lethality, reviving our defense industrial base and winning wars.” But apparently “woke” is a bigger threat to national security than incompetence and dishonesty at the highest levels of power.
Senator, we expect better of you. We deserve better. Alaskans are watching, and many of us are tired of seeing you contort yourself in defense of a man and a movement that show blatant disregard for the rule of law, for democratic institutions, and now—national security itself.
Your colleague, Senator Murkowski, found the breach “appalling.” That is the leadership we need. That is the kind of statement I would expect from someone who wore the uniform and swore an oath—not just to a party, or a man, but to the Constitution of the United States.
You know better. So why don’t you do better?
