On March 27th, DOGE decided to dismantle HHS’s Administration for Community Living.
This is not about streamlining or saving money. Dismantling ACL is a direct attack on disabled people. It jeopardizes critical support systems like assistive technology, elder care, protection and advocacy services and programs that help children with disabilities remain with their families, rather than be placed in institutions. Cutting ACL does not just hurt disabled adults. It hurts children, families, and every caregiver already stretched thin.
HHS must reverse this immediately. This must be made a priority for the protection of some of the most vulnerable members of our society. Disabled adults and children are not expendable. They are valuable members of our community who deserve to live with dignity.
