Protect free speech: demand the immediate release of Mahmoud Khalil.

To: Sen. Markey, Rep. Lynch, Sen. Warren

From: A constituent in Jamaica Plain, MA

March 12

The unjust detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a lawful permanent resident, for peacefully exercising his Constitutional right to protest is a blatant violation of the First Amendment. As Americans, we cherish the freedoms of speech and assembly enshrined in our founding documents. Mr. Khalil's advocacy for Palestinian rights, while controversial to some, is a protected form of expression that must be safeguarded. I urge you to demand his immediate release and a transparent accounting of why he was targeted by authorities without any formal charges. Allowing this injustice to stand unchallenged sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the civil liberties we hold dear. We cannot allow dissenting voices to be silenced through intimidation and arbitrary detention. Respect for the rule of law requires Mr. Khalil's rights be fully restored.
