I am disgusted by the ignoring of a court order by the Trump administration. The folks who were deported to someplace that isn’t their home country is unconscionable. Whether anyone on that plane is a criminal is irrelevant- they are afforded due process under US law. That doesn’t seem to matter much anymore- the law. The willingness of this administration to seize power for the executive branch is unbelievable. It’s even more unbelievable that nothing is being done to stop it. Our functioning democracy has been attacked and undermined for decades- and you all just handed Trump the pen to write off the American people as he sees fit. As a female constituent in New York, I never thought I’d have to worry about my rights to bodily autonomy would be taken away. But here we are, ignoring what’s in plain sight- the slash and burn agenda of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. I dont even know what to say anymore. Do something to stop the cutting down of democracy. Rules all seem to be bendable now, so the least you could do is bend them in a way that benefits people instead of harming them. Im tired of waking up to more news that the foundations of our government are being destroyed. I will likely never own a home even though my spouse and I make decent enough money. Groceries take up more and more of my paycheck, and the rent only ever goes up. All I want is to have enough. The current state of things is specifically designed so that most people will never have enough. And what’s the point of having a government if it’s not going to make sure it’s people have enough to not just survive, but thrive?
