oppose hb 267
To: Sen. Ginn
From: A constituent in Hoschton, GA
March 19
I’m writing as your constituent to urge you to vote NO on HB 267. This bill targets transgender people under the guise of fairness in sports and threatens decades of legal protections for all women.
HB 267 would ban transgender students from using school facilities that match their gender identity and prevent transgender girls from participating in sports with their peers. It’s discriminatory, invasive, and unnecessary. Enforcing it would mean subjecting children to invasive scrutiny—how would students “prove” their gender?
Beyond the harm to transgender youth, this bill carries serious financial risks. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, discrimination lawsuits involving transgender people have already cost Georgia taxpayers over $4.1 million since 2015. HB 267 will only lead to more costly legal battles.
Please oppose HB 267. Every Georgian deserves to feel safe, included, and protected—no matter who they are.
