Reject unconstitutional voter suppression order defending state election authority
To: Gov. DeSantis
From: A verified voter in Pensacola, FL
March 28
I am deeply troubled by President Trump's recent executive order that seeks to undermine voting rights and disenfranchise millions of Americans. This blatant overreach of federal power threatens to strip states of their constitutional authority to administer elections and impose burdensome requirements like demanding proof of citizenship to register to vote. An estimated 9% of eligible voters lack documentation like passports, potentially barring them from exercising their fundamental right. Voter fraud is exceedingly rare, and this order appears motivated by the president's unfounded claims rather than facts. It grants federal agencies like DOGE improper access to state voter rolls and disenfranchises those who cannot produce specific forms of citizenship documentation. This is a dangerous attack on our democracy that cannot be tolerated. I urge you to reject this unconstitutional executive order and defend our state's election laws against this authoritarian federal overreach. Upholding free, fair, and accessible elections for all eligible voters must be a top priority. States have the sole authority to determine their own election procedures, and we cannot allow the federal government to unlawfully infringe on that power or citizens' voting rights. Thank you for your consideration on this urgent matter.
