News this week of slashing our K-12 school budgets and public library funding is infuriating. As a multi-generational Ohioan I have always been proud of the quality of public education we provide and the dedication of our public libraries, serving so many needs in our local communities. These proposals are abhorrent and antithetical. Young people will not stay in a place where the educational and community opportunities are hamstrung by politicians insistent on lining their and their friends pockets while destroying opportunities for others. Instead Ohio’s population will continue to dwindle as it become older without young people wanting to be in a place where these vital services have been gutted. I urge you to remember what makes Ohio great, the opportunities that exist for us ALL, and to take necessary steps to correct these proposals.
