Reject HF16, preserve local autonomy and public safety

To: Rep. Pérez-Vega, Sen. Pappas, Gov. Walz

From: A constituent in Saint Paul, MN

March 13

The proposed HF16 legislation undermines public safety and erodes community trust by preventing local governments from enacting policies that protect their residents from overzealous federal immigration enforcement. Allowing this bill to pass would make citizens feel less secure and breed distrust towards local authorities, including law enforcement officials. We cannot enable policies that create an atmosphere of fear and diminish cooperation between communities and those sworn to protect them. For the well-being of all Minnesotans, HF16 must be firmly opposed to preserve local autonomy and maintain confidence in our public institutions.
