Let’s Stand Strong for Judicial Independence and Democracy
To: Sen. Liston
From: A constituent in Columbus, OH
March 21
I hope you’re well. I’m writing to express my gratitude for your positive response and dedication to fighting for our democracy. Your commitment to protecting our democratic institutions inspires me, and I’m eager to see us push for meaningful change together.
Recent news about Elon Musk’s America PAC offering $100 to Wisconsin voters for signing a petition against “activist judges”—while Tesla battles legal issues in the state—is extremely concerning. It’s a clear example of how corporate money can undermine our electoral process and threaten judicial independence.
I urge you to join me in advocating for:
• Closing the loopholes that allow financial incentives for petition signatures.
• Strengthening safeguards to ensure our courts remain independent from political and corporate pressures.
Additionally, Indivisible Central Ohio is hosting a Congressional Town Hall tomorrow at 2 PM. It would be wonderful to see you there as well, reinforcing our shared commitment to defending democracy.
Thank you for your leadership. I’m confident that together we can make a real difference.
