Any cuts to Medicare and Medicaid would be detrimental to women's health and well-being. The proposals by Republicans in Congress to slash $880 billion from the budget overseeing Medicaid are deeply concerning. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, there is no way to implement such drastic cuts without impacting Medicaid benefits directly. This could result in millions losing their health coverage and stripping away access to essential care for countless women across the nation. We have already seen worrying trends like rising sepsis rates among pregnant women in states that banned abortion. Undermining these vital safety net programs would only exacerbate such disturbing developments and put women's lives at risk. I urge you to firmly oppose any efforts to cut funding for Medicare and Medicaid to protect women's health.
