Please oppose the imposition of senseless tariffs. The latest round of 25% tariffs on foreign cars will hurt consumers, especially the middle class. I know this was designed to help Trump’s biggest backer, Elon Musk, since Tesla makes all its cars in the US. In any other administration, this would be considered market interference and manipulation. The stock market has not reacted well to the uncertainty tariffs have created and just had its worst quarter since 2023, losing over 2% of its value. Inflation has accelerated again in the February report. Consumer confidence fell for the 4th consecutive month, reaching its lowest level in 12 years. A dozen eggs cost $5. Adding thousands of dollars to car prices is a bad idea and will hurt working Americans. We appear to be heading towards a recession and the Republican party's actions are not helping.
