The hypocrisy of the administration in punishing a career DHS employee for an inadvertent, non-classified information breach while excusing political appointees who leaked classified military operation details is appalling. Such a blatant double standard undermines principles of equal treatment and accountability for all government officials. Hegseth and Waltz's actions put lives at risk by divulging classified operational information, an egregious offense far graver than the DHS employee's mistake. Failure to hold them to the same standards erodes trust in leadership and government institutions. Appropriate disciplinary action must be taken against Hegseth and Waltz to uphold the integrity of national security protocols and demonstrate that no officials are above the rules they are sworn to follow. Their resignation would be a necessary step to restore accountability.
