I am writing to express my deep disappointment in your recent decision to sit down for an interview with far-right Christian extremist Charlie Kirk. Giving a platform to someone who actively spreads hateful, anti-democratic rhetoric is not only irresponsible but a slap in the face to the very people who elected you. California has long been a state that champions inclusivity, science, and progress, and engaging with figures like Kirk only legitimizes dangerous ideologies that seek to undermine those values.
Beyond that, I am equally frustrated by your recent mandate requiring state workers to return to the office. After years of proving that remote work is both effective and beneficial to employees and the state, forcing people back to unnecessary commutes is a step backward. It ignores the realities of modern work and places undue burden on workers who have built their lives around the flexibility remote work provides.
There are so many other pressing issues that demand your attention—issues that your voters care deeply about. California is still facing devastating droughts, crumbling infrastructure, skyrocketing housing costs, and ongoing attacks from Trump and his allies on our protected lands. Meanwhile, PG&E continues to mismanage its outdated power grid while passing the costs of its failures onto consumers through ever-increasing energy bills. These are the real problems that require leadership and immediate action.
Instead of lending credibility to extremist voices or making life harder for workers, I urge you to refocus your efforts on the challenges that truly matter to Californians. We need strong, principled leadership—not performative gestures or regressive policies. I hope to see you make better choices moving forward.
