Reject Dr. Oz for CMS Director
To: Sen. Risch, Sen. Crapo
From: A constituent in Twin Falls, ID
March 14
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the nomination of Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Dr. Oz has a well-documented history of promoting unproven medical treatments, so-called “miracle cures,” and other forms of medical quackery that have misled the public and put patients at risk. His pattern of endorsing dubious health claims for personal profit demonstrates a fundamental disregard for evidence-based medicine and public health.
CMS plays a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of millions of Americans, particularly seniors and low-income individuals who rely on Medicare and Medicaid for essential care. This agency needs a leader who is committed to medical integrity, scientific rigor, and the best interests of patients—not someone with a track record of prioritizing personal gain over public health.
Dr. Oz’s extensive conflicts of interest and willingness to promote unproven treatments directly contradict the mission of CMS. Americans deserve leadership that upholds the highest standards of medical ethics, transparency, and accountability. I urge you to oppose his nomination and advocate for a candidate who is truly qualified to oversee our nation’s healthcare programs.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
