As I listened to Senator Bookers speech last night, I heard him say that he did not want to look back and say he did nothing as our Democracy is destroyed! I wonder about you? What are your values! How will you answer that question! Do you believe it’s important to stand up for democracy and if so, when will you? Right now we know that a Venezuelan man, Kilmer Abrego-Garcia, a legal citizen and a father of. disabled child was deported to an El Salvador prison in error! An administrative error! And now the administration says they can do nothing about this! A man’s life is lost in an administrative error- an error that would not have taken place had he been given due process. A man entitled to due process under our law except the administration decided not to follow it! How many of those Venezuelans were gang members or weren’t?! Does that matter to you? Does the constitution matter to you? Only in an authoritarian government does the law not matter! Yet you go along! What are your values? Under the budget resolution, Medicaid will be gutted! Seniors in nursing homes may find themselves without a home? Nursing homes may close! Children may go without healthcare! Struggling families will be left to choose between eating and healthcare! Does that matter to you or do you only care about tax cuts for billionaires! What are your values?! As staff are cut, offices closed and Elon decides to modernize the social security system without understanding of the system, we will likely see the collapse of that system! I know many including myself that won’t be able to make ends meet! Does that matter to you or instead do you defend tax cuts to billionaires! As tariffs continue to be imposed on other countries, we will see food, housing, cars, rent, utilities…. go up! Experts say it will increase the average household income by 4,200. I don’t know anyone who can afford that! Do you care?! We are seeing massive layoffs, federal services being gutted in the name of fraud, waste and abuse! Services like NOAA, FEMA, FAA, park rangers, NIH that has provided us with vital research for cancer. Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, USAID that has provided relief to starving countries and slowed the spread of infectious disease…. Services that help us and our country! Do you really think this helps our country or any of us?! We are seeing students illegally abducted and locked up for exercising their free speech? Does this matter to you?! Your silence which then alternates with defending the regime, suggests you don’t stand with us! As our lives get harder, you can be sure that the anger with you will only grow! People will feel betrayed rightfully so! Do your job! You work for us- not billionaires! Your oath is to the constitution- not billionaires!
