The Trump administration's recent deportation flights of Venezuelan immigrants to El Salvador raise serious human rights concerns. Allegations that individuals are being labeled as gang members with little to no evidence and hastily deported without due process are deeply troubling. Stripping legal permanent residents and asylum seekers of their rights to fair hearings and deportation proceedings violates principles of justice and human dignity. This approach not only destabilizes vulnerable immigrant communities but also undermines the integrity of the U.S. immigration system. Maintaining proper tracking and communication with detainees until their cases can be fully adjudicated is essential to ensuring no one faces unwarranted deportation or indefinite detention based on unsubstantiated claims. Transparent and lawful proceedings that respect human rights must be upheld. Even in cases involving suspected criminal activity, everyone has a right to defend themselves and have their circumstances properly examined by the courts. Abruptly deporting individuals en masse to third countries without thorough judicial review is an extreme overreach of executive power that forsakes American values of due process.
