Mitigate economic harm, uphold free trade over protectionism

The Trump administration's tariffs are severely disrupting the economy and hurting American workers and companies. Stellantis is temporarily laying off hundreds of employees due to the tariffs' impact. Stock markets plummeted amidst escalating trade conflicts with allies like Canada and the EU who announced counter-tariffs. This unjustified trade war is self-inflicting economic wounds. Instead of protectionist policies raising consumer and business costs, we should prioritize expanding free and fair trade which creates jobs, lowers prices, and fosters growth benefiting all Americans. Unilaterally imposing broad tariffs under dubious national security claims alienates allies and provokes retaliation harming US exporters. Reverse this destructive tariff escalation and address any legitimate concerns through negotiation and WTO mechanisms to avoid further economic pain for American families.
