Stop these executive orders!

To: Rep. Foster, Sen. Duckworth, Pres. Trump, Sen. Durbin

From: A constituent in Batavia, IL

April 2

What is wrong with this administration? The complete incompetence and the callous desire to hurt every day Americans??? It’s a way to make America terrible again, circa 2016 to 2020, but this time is way worse. These new tariffs are only going to hurt the economy and every day consumers. Gutting important, federal departments and policies, like the FDA and CDC, will have far reaching and long-term negative consequences, Americans will die. The ongoing ICE raids are a complete violation of human rights. Executive orders are not how to govern. Many are apocalyptic and do not put America/ans first, unless one’s a millionaire or billionaire. White and wealthy are the two qualities Republicans, Trump and Musk care about so they can line their own pockets and destroy the democracy, as well as tank the economy. It’s appalling. What happened to the importance of state rights? Individual freedoms AND separation of church and state — what the founding fathers intended? Isn’t that what the GOP supported or did? Congress must overturn Citizens United — get dark money and huge campaign donations out of politics. Enough is enough; elections should not be won by campaign donations of billionaires. Totally unethical! I hope that Republicans can find a backbone and Democrats can band together to prevent further destruction. Where is the bridge too far? I think we crossed it YEARS ago, and it’s exhausting becoming a global pariah and further anticipating the chaos and lack of support for individuals who are barely surviving, all thanks to this current administration.
