Monday, ICE admitted in a sworn declaration to an "administrative error" that resulted in the deportation of a Maryland man to a prison in El Salvador. Kilmer Abrego-Garcia, who has a United States citizen wife and child, was kidnapped by ICE officers and without due process deported and jailed. The Trump administration claims they can do nothing about this horrendous situation, nor can the court, since it has no jurisdiction outside the United States. We sent an innocent man with legal status to reside in this country to prison in a foreign country and now we just say ‘too bad’? JD Vance went public to claim that Abrego-Garcia was a "convicted" MS-13 member, despite no record of such conviction. He went on to say: 'it's gross to get fired up about gang members getting deported while ignoring citizens they victimize'. What is gross, what is criminal, what is totally unacceptable, is allowing such an injustice to stand. It is a moral outrage. We must correct the horrendous wrong committed by this regime, and taking every possible action to bring an innocent man back to his family. We are leaving him in grave danger, in a prison infamous worldwide for its inhumane conditions, in the country he fled to seek asylum from gang warfare. They should be working around the clock How many other ‘clerical errors’ has ICE made? How many other innocents have been wrongfully detained, deported, incarcerated and endangered? This regime has no conscience and no shame. We are the ones now who perpetrate crimes, violate our own laws, scorn human rights. We have become monsters. I ask you to do all you can to seek justice and ensure the safety of Kilmer Abrego-Garcia. Secure his release and return him to his home and family. Do it now.
