I'm writing to express my deep concern over the attacks on immigrant communities throughout the country. Now that it has been reintroduced, I would like to urge you to support and pass H.R.1589, the American Dream and Promise Act. Immigrants are the backbone of America. They build our economy, enrich our culture, and strengthen our communities in every way possible. From small business owners and healthcare workers to teachers and engineers, immigrants contribute their talents, ideas, and hard work to make our country thrive. However, the current administration has made a point of scapegoating immigrants and engaging in illegal abductions and deportations. To combat this and protect immigrant communities from additional injustice, the American Dream and Promise Act would create a pathway to citizenship for many immigrants, including DACA recipients, Temporary Protection Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) holders. Many of these people have only ever known and loved America. To them, this country is home. I urge you to use your authority and resources to defend immigrant communities nationwide. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that your office will continue to uphold immigrants' rights and provide a pathway to citizenship for millions of deserving people.
