Libraries and museums are vital cultural institutions that enrich our communities and provide essential services. Eliminating the Institute of Museum and Library Services would deal a devastating blow, cutting off critical federal funding that supports literacy programs, internet access, job assistance, resources for the visually impaired, and so much more. This modest funding translates into over 1.2 billion library visits each year. We cannot allow this short-sighted decision to deprive Americans, especially those in rural areas, of these invaluable resources and opportunities for learning and growth. Libraries are beloved civic spaces that strengthen education, preserve our heritage, and open doors to knowledge. They deserve robust support, not draconian cuts that undermine their ability to serve the public good. I urge our representatives to reject any efforts to defund libraries and museums. These institutions uplift our society immeasurably, and their essential federal funding must be protected to ensure they can continue fulfilling their vital missions of enriching lives and advancing our communities. The benefits they provide are invaluable and the consequences of losing them would be devastating. We must unite to safeguard these beloved pillars of education, opportunity, and enlightenment for all.
