Opposition to Executive Order “Protecting the Integrity of American Elections”

To: Sen. Lee, Pres. Trump, Sen. Curtis, Rep. Owens

From: A verified voter in Salt Lake City, UT

April 1

I am writing to express my strong opposition to former President Donald Trump’s executive order, Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections, which undermines the democratic process, threatens Americans’ freedom to vote, and tramples on states’ constitutional authority to administer elections. This executive order is a direct attack on free and fair elections, imposing federal overreach in a domain that the Constitution entrusts to the states. By placing unnecessary restrictions on election administration and promoting baseless claims of widespread voter fraud, the order serves only to suppress voter participation—particularly among marginalized communities. Instead of strengthening election security, it erodes trust in our democratic institutions and makes it harder for eligible Americans to exercise their fundamental right to vote. Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. Congress must take immediate action to reject this dangerous overreach and protect the rights of all Americans to cast their ballots without unnecessary barriers. I urge you to oppose any efforts to enforce or expand this executive order and to support legislation that ensures voting remains accessible, secure, and free from political interference. As your constituent, I call on you to defend our democracy and uphold the integrity of our elections by standing against this executive order. I appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to your response.
