New short term CR requirements

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Bera, Sen. Schiff

From: A verified voter in Sacramento, CA

March 13

I implore you to work with Senator Patty Murray who eloquently spoke on the floor yesterday about the current CR issue. I agree with her concerns and believe she has the best approach to laying out a short term Continuing Resolution which emphasizes spelling out in detail funding for the needs of your collective constituents and not handing slush funds over to President Trump and Elon Musk to spend on their pet projects. Additionally, strong guard rails need to be installed in this CR to stop Elon Musk's and Doge's illegal and disastrous actions and to take away their control over spending, layoffs and cuts. Congress should maintain the power of the purse. They have illegally violated our constitution on an almost daily basis and have refused to follow court decisions and orders on these violations. Therefore, I implore you to take Elon Musk's and Doge's control and access away and severely restrict the President's flexibility in executing Congress's funding bills/appropriations. Also, please add a condition of this bill that all illegal firings and illegal funding cuts be restored. Let the government shutdown temporarily if needed. This is on the Republicans who refused to work with Democrats to forge a reasonable bill earlier on. It is absolutely crucial that the illegal and dangerous decisions by Elon Musk and Doge be hemmed in by tight guard rails before any funding bills are passed. And the funding bills need to be tightly prescribed accordingly to the needs of our people, our democracy and our national security in order to prevent our president from damaging overreach.
