Subject: Presidential Endorsement of Tesla – Ethical and Legal Concerns
I am writing to express serious concerns over President Trump’s public promotion of Tesla and his close financial ties to Elon Musk. His recent endorsement of Tesla vehicles, his commitment to purchasing multiple Teslas, and even his handwritten sales pitch for Tesla pricing raise serious ethical and legal questions.
As you know, federal ethics rules prohibit public officials from using their office to endorse private businesses for personal or financial gain. Yet, Trump’s actions directly benefit Musk, whose company has received billions in government contracts and subsidies while also facing ongoing federal investigations.
Here are my concerns:
Trump’s Tesla endorsements appear to be propping up Musk’s stock, which has lost nearly half its value this year. This raises conflict of interest concerns—is Trump using his office to bail out a billionaire ally at the taxpayers’ expense?
DOGE has been shutting down federal oversight agencies, including those investigating Musk’s business dealings. This suggests corruption—why is the government shielding Musk instead of holding him accountable?
If any other federal official did this, it would be illegal. Why should the President be exempt from basic ethical standards?
I am calling on you to demand an ethics investigation into whether Trump’s Tesla promotion violates federal laws against using public office for private gain. Congress must take a stand against this blatant corruption.
The American people deserve a government that works for them—not one that enriches billionaires. I look forward to hearing how you plan to respond.
