An Open Letter

I am very distressed at finding out the Head Start office for Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana has been closed. Head Start in Wisconsin serves 16,000 children! Not only do they provide early childhood education- numbers, letters and more- they allow parents to work while their child is at the Head Start Daycare. This is an absolutely critical service. Not only for the children but for the country too. Education is extremely important to communities. It is unconscionable that HHS, which is now being run by someone with no medical or education experience, would even consider taking funding from Head Start! I would like you to remember that, like President Lincoln said, government is of the people, by the people and for the people. It is not to enrich the president and his minions. It is FOR the people and that includes children.
