The executive order issued by President Trump to dismantle the Department of Education is a blatant violation of the Constitution and federal law. Congress alone has the authority to create and eliminate federal agencies, not the president through an executive order. Trump's attempt to transfer the core functions of the Education Department to other agencies undermines Congress's power of appropriation and oversight. Furthermore, gutting the Education Department would severely undermine the federal government's ability to fulfill its legally mandated duties in managing student loans, distributing financial aid like Pell Grants, and ensuring equal access to education nationwide. This reckless action threatens to cause immense damage to our education system and deprive millions of students access to vital resources and support. It is imperative that this unconstitutional executive order be immediately blocked and the Department of Education be allowed to continue its critical work. The future of our nation's students and the integrity of our democratic system of checks and balances are at stake. Swift judicial intervention is necessary to prevent further erosion of congressional authority and safeguard the rights of all Americans to a quality education.
