Fight for our rights for free speech and the ability to protest
To: Rep. Behn, Gov. Lee, Sen. Oliver
From: A constituent in Madison, TN
March 7
Fight for our rights for free speech and the ability to protest. I am disappointed with representative Lance Gooden’s actions in ripping a sign from a fellow representative’s hands. What a complete act of disrespect. If Al Green is up for censure based on actions, Gooden should be too or other disciplinary actions need to be taken.
The beautiful thing about democracy was that we all are supposed to have the right to share our thoughts and beliefs and be able to coexist. This administration has taken all of that away and chooses to bully instead and it is truly appalling. The first amendment gives us freedom of speech and I am truly concerned with losing that right. Things like this and banning the rights to protest truly shows the dark path we are headed towards. Stand with your constituents and demand an apology for the female representative and hold him accountable for his cowardly actions.
