I’m writing for two reasons. First, you should oppose the cruel Medicaid and budget cuts to finance tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. This trickle down framework will increase the wealth of the wealthiest while harming the least of these among us. It’s an immoral bill and budgets are moral documents which showcase our values. Vote against this bill. Second, every day, new allegations of illegal impoundment of appropriated funds, illegal firings of civil servants, and illegal actions and access to private systems occur by Elon Musk and the non-governmental DOGE team. If appropriations do not matter because of an executive who is illegally impounding lawfully appropriated funds then you should provide no votes to pass a budget, CR, or debt ceiling increase until the illegal activity stops. You must defend the legislative prerogatives of Congress and protect constitutional separation of powers.
