Protect Disability Rights and Section 504
To: Gov. Hobbs
From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ
March 24
I am writing out of concern for people with disabilities, including children. Access to schools, healthcare, workplaces, and more will be significantly impacted if Section 504 is deemed unconstitutional; this will remove protections they have to help ensure they can access care. I support the updated Section 504 rules because they are stronger and give more examples of what disability discrimination is.
At present, 17 State's Attorney Generals are part of the lawsuit "Texas v. Becerra". If the 17 states that are part of this lawsuit win, this will undo these protections and impact millions of children and Americans and put future disability rights in jeopardy.
I ask that you please ask your Attorney General to file an amicus brief to support and uphold the disability rights provided through Section 504 and the ADA.
