I have voted republican for 24 years including in this most recent election cycle and for President Trump in every election starting in 2016. I am a primary care physician who has been practicing in the Tampa bay area since 2020. After graduating from medical school and residency I had roughly 400,000 dollars in student debt which I have been faithfully repaying at $3000/mo for years. This month, however, I was kindly repaid by the Trump administration who arbitrarily cancelled ALL income based repayment plans leaving a single option which instantly and unexpectedly doubled the monthly payment to over $6000. There is nothing MAGA about this decision. Some of the cancelled plans have been in place since the early 90s. It seems oddly malicious. If this is not expediently remediated within a year our family will be broke, I will have my wages garnished, and our modest home will likely head to foreclosure. If things had continued under the previous repayment plan the government stood to receive $880000 on a principle loan of 400k. Instead the Trump admin has decided to push me into financial ruin and in exchange receive not even half what they would have previously. This makes no sense and needs to be remedied immediately. Thank you for your swift and assertive response.
