Re: cuts to Medicaid
In 2018 my husband and I, biological parents of two boys, became foster parents to two more kids, a pair of siblings. They went home to their mom over a year later and unfortunately things did not go well. Very long and traumatic story short, they ended up back with us in 2022 with no legal protections or other support, just a document signed by mom giving us the right to enroll them in school. We now have a legal guardianship, thank God. Because the foster care system never intervened, we lost the protections and financial support it provides. Medicaid is now the only benefit those two children receive, and we happily provide for the rest. I ask that you support Medicaid in any way you can. If Federal cuts reduce the budget, I would rather pay more taxes than see children lose their health care. My husband and I are both health care providers, and would also hate to see provider payments cut any lower than they already are. Thank you.
