I am gravely concerned about the ad hoc ‘Department’ of Government Efficiency currently bypassing congressional authority to slash federal departments’ staffs and budgets.
DOGE staff is not legally authorized to take those actions.
Their ‘director,’ Elon Musk, was neither vetted nor approved by Congress. He reports directly to the chief executive.
DOGE was created by Executive Order. It acts under the authority of the Executive branch of the government.
DOGE is in the process of nullifying the Legislative branch of our government. They are taking your power from you.
Do we now have only two branches of government, with the Executive taking the powers and authority of the Legislative? If so, that is a blatant violation of the Constitution’s Article One. Why are you not publicly opposing that?
My wife and I strongly urge you and your congressional colleagues to fight DOGE’s takeover of the Legislative branch with every tool at your disposal and preserve our democracy.
